Cheetos Meets Culture In South Africa

Music superstars Robot Boii, Kamo Mphela, radio personality Ayanda MVP and Afro-tech DJ Oara electrified with performances that created a stir of excitement as they headlined the first ever Cheetos Playground. The star-studded event was the ultimate block party, bringing out tastemakers in music, fashion and content creation, immersing themselves in the Orange Side of Life and celebrating the launch of global snack brand Cheetos in South Africa.

The Cheetos Playground, hosted by TV personality Tshego Koke at The Nest in Johannesburg, rolled out the Orange Carpet with stars and trendsetters honouring the invite in shades of orange and fashionable looks. This included Lebohang Lephatsoana and Ayakha Ntunja of Younginz Showmax fame, models Ponahalo and Nkuley, reality stars Libho Geza and Thabang Mazibuko, actress Tshenolo Seabi and content creators like Moghelingz, to name a few.

The event was an immersive and playful experience with show-stopping performances from Robot Boii performing songs like “Tjovi”, which was released in partnership with the brand as they celebrate their South African launch. Amapiano superstar Kamo Mphela brought the house down with hits like “Partii”, while DJs Ayanda MVP and Oara got guests on their feet and on the dance floor. In true Cheetos mischievous style, the food and drinks were inspired by the new and addictive Cheetos flavours, with guests immersing themselves in playful experiences.

“Cheetos globally is such a cool cultural brand, and I was thrilled to lend my brand-new song Tjovi to this campaign and get Mzansi dancing. Headlining the Cheetos Playground has been an incredible experience and encourages my fans to head to stores and get on brand with Cheetos,” said South African personality Robot Boii on his involvement in the campaign.

This celebration comes after months of strategic collaboration and behind-the-scenes dedication that is bringing brand mascot Chester Cheetah’s signature swagger to South African shelves. The Cheetos Can’t Hide The Fun campaign was rolled out in collaboration with dynamic content creators through cheeky stunts and viral dance challenges, including Chad Jones, Sky Your Loss, Neevan Ferris, Luyanda Nyembe and Percy Nyatshi, to name a few.

“The brand’s arrival is more than just a product launch; it’s a celebration of fun, flavour and personality. We are proud to partner with such dynamic personalities and are inviting South Africans to embrace their playful side and join the movement on the Orange Side of Life,” commented Marketing Manager (Snacks) at PepsiCo South Africa, Diyaana Allie.
