Global proposal campaign looking to back innovations to improve public health and wellbeing in SA

South Africa is being invited to step onto the global stage of health innovation as the “Go Healthy with Taiwan 2026” campaign officially launches its national call for proposals.

Led by Taiwan’s internationally respected health and innovation sector, the campaign is searching for practical, scalable ideas that can improve lives through health technology, fitness innovation, wellness systems, cycling solutions, sports science, smart healthcare, and preventative wellbeing.

At a time when healthcare systems worldwide face mounting pressure, the campaign arrives with a message of hope: innovation does not only belong in laboratories — it belongs in communities, schools, clinics, universities, businesses, and everyday lives.

The South African campaign launch, hosted by Impilo Global Events, calls on universities, NGOs, innovators, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, sports scientists, wellness practitioners, and community leaders to submit ideas that combine local implementation with Taiwanese technologies and expertise.

The campaign theme for 2026, “Designing Healthier Futures Together,” reflects a growing global movement toward collaboration instead of competition in solving public health challenges.

The opportunity is not only symbolic — it is substantial.

According to the official campaign platform, up to three winning proposals globally will each receive a US$30,000 award. The top six finalists will also receive a sponsored trip to Taiwan, including enterprise visits, health experiences, and professional pitch coaching. The top 20 finalists will receive one-on-one mentorship from industry experts and access to collaboration opportunities with Taiwanese enterprises.

In 2025, the campaign attracted 638 proposals from 55 countries, demonstrating Taiwan’s growing role as a global connector in healthcare innovation.

South Africa’s participation represents more than a competition. It is an opportunity for local innovators to transform ideas into real-world impact while building bridges between Africa and Asia.

“Health is no longer only about hospitals,” says the South African campaign team. “It is about mobility, prevention, mental wellness, fitness, technology, sustainability, and dignity. We are looking for ideas that can genuinely improve quality of life.”

Applications are now officially open, with submissions closing on 5 August 2026.
