Johnnie Walker celebrates culture, connection and progress at Durban July 2026

Over one of South Africa’s most anticipated cultural weekends, Johnnie Walker brought its Keep Walking ethos to life through a series of immersive experiences that celebrated music, style, and hospitality excellence at the 2026 Hollywoodbets Durban July.

Widely regarded as more than a horse racing event, Durban July is where fashion, entertainment and culture converge, drawing thousands of racegoers and tastemakers to celebrate one of the country’s most iconic social occasions. Under this year’s Country Allure theme, Johnnie Walker became part of those moments, creating experiences that reflected every side of the weekend.

Boomtown, presented by Johnnie Walker, became the heartbeat of the celebrations as race day gave way to an unforgettable entertainment experience. Guests enjoyed performances from some of South Africa’s biggest artists, including TKZee, Sphectacula & DJ Naves, DJ Tira, Sjava, Blxckie, Karyendasoul and Ciza, while SJ, Kristen Singh, J SBU, Deon G and Fantas The DJ kept the energy high throughout the day. Together, the performances transformed Boomtown into one of the weekend’s most memorable destinations.

“At Johnnie Walker, we believe progress is shaped by the moments that bring people together. As one of South Africa’s most iconic cultural celebrations, the Durban July represents the intersection of music, fashion and culture – making it a natural platform for us to connect with consumers through experiences that reflect the many ways they choose to celebrate. From world-class entertainment and premium hospitality to exceptional culinary experiences, our ambition was to elevate every touchpoint, sparking meaningful connections, memorable conversations and unforgettable moments. As a brand that continues to champion culture through its longstanding investment in music and fashion, we are proud to contribute to the vibrant spirit that defines the Durban July while remaining true to our purpose of inspiring people to Keep Walking,” says Ifeoma Agu, Group Head of Culture, Influencers & Advocacy at Diageo South, West & Central Africa.

Throughout the celebrations, guests enjoyed Johnnie Walker’s signature serves, with the refreshing Johnnie Ginger and perfectly balanced Walker Sour becoming favourites among those celebrating in style.

Offering a different expression of the brand, Johnnie Walker also anchored a premium hospitality experience at Dukkah, where guests gathered ahead of race day for an evening of world-class hospitality, exceptional dining and thoughtfully curated moments. Setting the tone for the weekend ahead, the experience reflected the sophistication and anticipation synonymous with Durban July.

The celebrations extended beyond the racecourse through a partnership with Butcher Boys Umhlanga which brought the spirit of Durban July into one of Durban’s favourite dining destinations, the night was closed off at Rockets Wonderland where guests enjoyed an electric mix of music, culture, and premium hospitality that kept the Durban July celebrations going long after the final race.

Through the weekend activities Johnnie Walker delivered a holistic celebration of modern South African culture. By creating meaningful experiences across music, hospitality and lifestyle, the brand once again reinforced its commitment to celebrating the people, places and moments that continue to shape South Africa’s cultural landscape.
