Compass Box Launches New Core Collection in South Africa – A Whisky Story Worth Telling

Compass Box, the maverick whiskymaker known for creativity, transparency, and boundary-pushing artistry, has unveiled its new Core Collection in South Africa, featuring two newly released expressions: Crimson Casks and Nectarosity.

These new arrivals join established favourites The Peat Monster and Orchard House, forming a lineup that reflects the full spectrum of Compass Box’s award-winning style – from smoky and elemental to fresh, fruity, and boldly indulgent. Each whisky is a considered act of creation – the most remarkable whiskies aren’t merely stumbled upon, they’re deliberately imagined. Journey with Compass Box into uncharted territories of flavour.

“With this Core Collection, we’re showcasing the full creative potential of blended Scotch. Nectarosity brings patisserie-style indulgence with notes of honeyed fruit and soft pastry, while Crimson Casks delivers Sherry-influenced depth and spicy intensity. Alongside the orchard brightness of Orchard House and the bold complexity of The Peat Monster, this range invites discovery at every turn,” says James Saxon, Whiskymaking Director at Compass Box.

The New Core Range

Crimson Casks (NEW)

Matured in a mix of sherry and red wine casks, this rich, ruby-hued blend delivers decadent layers of chocolate fudge cake, stewed plums, spiced cherry, and sweet red fruits, finishing with a warm glow of honey and brown sugar.

Nectarosity (NEW)

Honeyed, soft, and luminous, Nectarosity is a blend of Highland malts and Lowland grain whiskies aged in bourbon and sherry casks. Notes of apricot, lychee, vanilla cream, and buttery pastry create a silky, sunlit dram.

The Peat Monster

A cult favourite for a reason, The Peat Monster is bold, smoky, and layered with elegance. Coastal Islay malts bring bonfire smoke, sea spray, and peppery spice, balanced by smooth vanilla undertones. As approachable as it is mystifying.

Orchard House

Vibrant, fresh, and fruit-forward, Orchard House is a lively blend built around fragrant Highland malts. Expect green apple, ripe pear, citrus, and buttery pastry in a whisky that’s as modern as it is charming.

Beyond the Map

Compass Box’s new Core Range challenges the old narratives of Scotch — no stuffy traditions, no gatekeeping. Just compelling flavours, artistic storytelling, and a mission to make whisky more accessible, more expressive, and more interesting. Blending the best casks from across Scotland, Compass Box creates whiskies that break boundaries and defy expectation. This, is flavour without limits.

To celebrate the South African launch, Compass Box will collaborate with local creatives, experience curators, and tastemakers – those who share its passion for reinvention and expression. Expect immersive tastings, curated cultural moments, and whisky served with edge, not tartan.
