Thulani Malevu Answers the Ancestral Call with Debut EP: Ubizo – The Calling

With these stirring words, South African singer, songwriter, and spiritual storyteller Thulani Malevu unveils his long-awaited debut project, Ubizo – The Calling – a deeply personal and sacred body of work that transcends music as we know it.

Received during a season of rupture, awakening and divine alignment, Ubizo is not a performance. It is a ritual. A remembering. A return to purpose. Each track is a spiritual portal – crafted not for trends, but for truth.

Rooted in ancestral sound and soulful intention, Ubizo invites the listener into a sacred space where music becomes ceremony, memory becomes melody, and healing becomes possible.

“Ubizo is not just music – it’s a spiritual document,” says Malevu. “It’s a call to remembrance. A call to rise. A call to return to our roots, our power, our truth.”

Tracklist – Ubizo: The Calling

1. The Intro Maye Maye (feat. Mzilankatha Mbhali)
A powerful spoken word opening that signals the beginning of a sacred journey.

2. Ubizo (feat. DeeVine Music)
The title track – a resonant call to walk boldly in one’s purpose and spiritual assignment.

3. Maye Maye (feat. Slindokuhle Ngidi)
A generational reckoning – a heart-opening conversation with inherited wounds and the will to heal.

4. Mzala
A haunting, emotional plea for soul-level companionship and connection.

5. Ma Nxumalo
An ancestral lament for the mother Malevu’s father never knew. Grief becomes prayer.

6. Okhokholozi
A triumphant praise song that celebrates identity through ancestral lineage and spiritual belonging.

7. Ophezulu
A closing hymn that petitions the heavens for peace, mercy, and inner healing.

In support of the project, Thulani will present Ubizo the Show – an immersive live performance that blends song, storytelling, and ancestral wisdom. This offering is more than entertainment; it’s a collective ritual of healing, remembrance, and spirit-led reflection.

In 2024, Malevu founded the Thulani Malevu Foundation, an initiative supporting learners at Isizinda Secondary School, his alma mater. The foundation provides school uniforms and mentorship for young boys and girls, encouraging them to dream beyond circumstance.

He is also preparing to release his debut memoir, Indaba Yami – My Story of Remembering – a reflective and heartfelt account of his life, lessons, and spiritual awakening.
