Slipper Day returns to raise R15 million to make dreams come true for children with serious illnesses

Reach For A Dream’s cosiest annual fundraiser, Slipper Day, is back on 29 May 2026. Since 2011, Slipper Day has united the nation in support of children facing serious or life-threatening diseases. At the heart of this year’s Slipper Day are Fuzzy Facts, playful, believable claims about slippers that are difficult to prove but offer entertainment while sparking curiosity about the foundation.

Did you know wearing slippers improves your mood by 61%? Or that Reach For A Dream has fulfilled almost 30,000 dreams for children facing serious illnesses since 1988? Another important fact to know is that every fulfilled dream creates a ripple effect of joy, extending beyond the child to their families, medical teams, and wider communities, offering a powerful moment of hope during an otherwise challenging time.

“This is our 15th year of bringing South Africans together for Slipper Day, inspiring kindness and cosiness in solidarity of children facing life-threatening illnesses. This year we aim to raise R15 million to make dreams come true for the brave children who spend their time receiving treatment in hospitals”, says Reach For A Dream CEO, Julia Sotirianakos.

Every day, Reach For A Dream fulfils an average of seven dreams for children nationwide, ranging from meeting a celebrity hero or flying in a plane to being a vet for a day. This brings moments of hope and joy to children living with illnesses such as organ failure, cancer and heart conditions. In 2025, the Foundation fulfilled 2,510 dreams.

Speaking at the campaign launch was 18-year-old Zinokhanyo Nyangule whose dream of being on TV was recently fulfilled by the foundation. She spoke about the importance of her dream coming true, “Reach For A Dream has done a lot for me, more than I can imagine. I’ve had cancer three times and it hasn’t been an easy journey.”

“They asked me what my dream is and I said I want to be on TV and they made it happen. That showed me that dreaming is important,” Nyangule adds.

Do it for the Dreamers and get rewarded

This year, Slipper Day offers you the chance to be rewarded for making a child’s dream come true. Buy a Slipper Day sticker, scan the barcode and you could walk away with a share of R2 million in prizes, such as data, Wimpy ice creams and waffles, Nu Metro movie tickets, Food Lovers vouchers, Crazy Store rubber ducks, Biogen products, Crocs and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Wear your sticker and slippers on 29 May to redeem a free Famous Coffee or short hot chocolate at Wimpy.

Where to get your Slipper Day stickers

Stickers are available from 13 April to 29 May at Wimpy, Dis-Chem Pharmacies, Baby City, Crocs, Crazy Store, Toys R Us, Babies R Us and Krispy Kreme stores nationwide. Virtual stickers and themed slippers can be bought online from the Reach For A Dream online store. Bulk sticker orders for schools and corporates will be delivered by The Courier Guy.

Research shows that slippers improve productivity by 47%. Even if that fact cannot be proven, Reach For A Dream promises that 100% proceeds from sticker sales go towards fulfilling the dreams of children fighting illness every day.  This Slipper Day, do it for the dreamers in your fuzzy slippers because dreams matter.
