Slipper Day: Help Make Dreams Come True for Children Facing Life-Threatening Illnesses

With just weeks to go until Slipper Day on 29 May 2026, Reach For A Dream is calling on South Africans to step in, show up, and slip on their slippers to help bring hope to children facing life-threatening illnesses.
Now in its 15th year, Slipper Day continues to unite individuals, schools, and businesses across the country in a shared mission to fulfil dreams that offer children a vital escape from the realities of treatment. This year, the Foundation has set an ambitious goal to raise R15 million, and every sticker sold brings them one step closer.
At the heart of this year’s campaign are Fuzzy Facts — playful, feel good statements designed to spark curiosity and conversation. While some may be difficult to prove, one fact remains certain: every dream fulfilled creates a powerful ripple of hope that extends far beyond the child, reaching families, caregivers, and entire communities.
“Each Slipper Day reminds us what is possible when South Africans come together with purpose,” says Reach For A Dream CEO, Julia Sotirianakos. “With the support of the public, we are able to continue fulfilling dreams that bring light into some of the most difficult moments in a child’s life. We encourage everyone to get their stickers, wear their slippers, and be part of something truly meaningful.”
Every day, Reach For A Dream fulfils an average of seven dreams for children across the country. These dreams range from meeting a hero to experiencing a dream career for a day, each one carefully designed to inspire joy, courage, and renewed hope. In 2025 alone, 2,510 dreams were fulfilled.
One of those dreamers is 18-year-old Zinokhanyo Nyangule, who recently received her dream of being on TV. After facing cancer three times, her journey has been anything but easy, yet her dream became a turning point.
“Reach For A Dream has done so much for me,” she shares. “When they asked me about my dream and made it happen, it reminded me that dreaming is still important, no matter what you are going through.”
Do it for the Dreamers
By simply purchasing a Slipper Day sticker, South Africans can directly contribute to making more dreams come true. This year, supporters also stand a chance to win a share of R2 million in prizes by scanning the barcode on their sticker. Rewards include data, Wimpy treats, movie tickets, vouchers, and more.
On Slipper Day, those wearing their stickers and slippers can enjoy a free Famous Coffee or short hot chocolate at Wimpy, adding a small moment of comfort to a day that stands for something far greater.
Get Your Sticker Before It’s Too Late
Slipper Day stickers are available nationwide at Wimpy, Dis-Chem Pharmacies, Baby City, Crocs, Crazy Store, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, and Krispy Kreme. Virtual stickers and themed slippers can also be purchased online, with bulk orders for schools and corporates delivered by The Courier Guy.
While Fuzzy Facts may be up for debate, one thing is clear: 100% of proceeds from sticker sales go towards fulfilling dreams for children living with serious illnesses.
With the countdown to 29 May underway, Reach For A Dream is urging South Africans not to wait. Buy your sticker, wear your slippers, and do it for the dreamers. To find out more or purchase your Slipper Day stickers and Slippers click here:https://reachforadream.org.za/slipper-day/
