Where Bubbly Meets Canvas: Capegate Turns Women’s Day into an Artful Celebration

Capegate Shopping Centre is rewriting the Women’s Day routine. Sip & Social, happening Saturday, 9 August from 10am until 2pm, with a punchy mix of art, honest storytelling and indulgent pairings. It’s the kind of feel-good experience you book for yourself and end up recommending to everyone you know.

The morning opens with a no-fluff, all-heart talk from Sherlin Barends, KFM radio host and motivational speaker. She’ll be sharing the real stuff: navigating tough moments, celebrating small wins and learning to keep going. Think less TED Talk, more heart-to-heart – the kind that lingers long after the last word.

“Women’s Day is a reminder that, as women, we carry more than titles or roles – we carry stories, scars and strength,” says Zoë Enslin, Marketing Manager at Capegate Shopping Centre. “Through Sip & Social, we wanted to offer a moment to slow down, laugh, reflect and connect with likeminded women.”

Next, guests roll up their sleeves for a textured art session with Artt Palette, a woman-owned studio in Durbanville. Whether you haven’t held a paintbrush since school or you live for a DIY project, this hands-on workshop is all about experimenting and having fun… you might even discover a new hobby. No pressure. No rules. Just good vibes, good company and your own canvas to take home.

And because no celebration is complete without a little indulgence, we’ll be raising our glasses for a bubbly and macaron pairing by CANTO Wines, a boutique Durbanville estate known for its crisp, characterful MCCs. Each bubbly is matched with a handcrafted macaron – from pistachio to red raspberry and salted caramel – for a tasting that’s all sparkle and satisfaction.

To top it off, every guest will receive a Catrice beauty goodie bag, adding a luxe little something to remember the day by.

Tickets are R375, and space is limited. Whether you come solo or with your circle, Sip & Social offers a fresh alternative to the usual Women’s Day routine. It’s personal, playful and unapologetically about women taking time for themselves.

Capegate Shopping Centre, located in the heart of Brackenfell, continues to build on its reputation as more than just a retail space. With a strong focus on community and lifestyle, the centre regularly hosts events that connect, uplift and entertain.
