As the 2026 academic year gets underway and many children begin their first steps into formal education, Curro is proud to announce a leadership appointment at Curro The Blyde, with Alet Bissett taking up the role of Executive Head.
Bissett brings experience in educational leadership, strategic problem-solving and multilingual communication, having previously served as an executive head at another Curro school. She holds a BA (General), a Higher Diploma in Education, a BEd (Hons) in Educational Psychology, and an Advanced Certificate in School Management and Leadership from the Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance.

Curro The Blyde offers a seamless learning journey from preschool to Grade 7. Play-based classes for ages three to five foster curiosity, while primary school combines controlled class sizes, strong foundations in language, Mathematics, life skills, and project-based learning, including Robotics. Sports, culture, and extramural activities further develop talents, confidence, and life skills.
Reflecting on her career, Bissett says she was inspired by the belief that one teacher can make a difference and recognised early the impact of effective leadership. She adds, ‘I am excited to take on this new role at Curro The Blyde, where I can use my experience to strengthen academic results, leadership capacity, and school culture. My vision is to lead the school to be academically strong, purpose-driven and focused on preparing learners for life beyond school.’
Outside work, Bissett enjoys time with family, reading, scrapbooking, and playing the piano, and finds fulfilment in learner success and staff development.
‘Having already contributed valuably within the Curro family, Mrs Bissett is a trusted and experienced leader. We are excited for her to guide Curro The Blyde forward, building on its strong foundations and preparing learners for a future full of opportunities,’ says Fergus Sampson, Business Executive at Curro.
