Acer Africa and Julia “Bish” Robson Launch #DeInfluenceTheInternet to Reclaim Authenticity Online

Acer Africa, in collaboration with renowned gaming personality and content creator Julia “Bish” Robson, is proud to announce the launch of #DeInfluenceTheInternet. This ongoing User-Generated Content (UGC) initiative focused around “Instagram vs Reality” theme is a call to action for social media users to stop chasing “the aesthetic” and start sharing the unfiltered reality of their lives.

In a digital landscape dominated by skin-smoothing filters, staged photography, and the pressure to appear “perfect,” #DeInfluenceTheInternet serves as a much-needed reset. The campaign encourages the community to post raw, unedited content that reflects who they truly are when the cameras aren’t perfectly positioned or even turned on.

A Movement Rooted in Reality

The initiative was sparked by Julia “Bish” Robson, who has long been an advocate for transparency in the digital space. By partnering with Acer Africa, the movement aims to reach a broader audience, challenging the “highlight reel” culture that often contributes to digital burnout and low self-esteem. We believe that social media should be a place for connection, not a source of inadequacy. We are showing that it’s okay to have a messy room, a tired face, or a life that doesn’t look like a magazine cover. Real life is beautiful enough as it is.

How to Participate

Acer Africa and Julia Robson invite everyone to join the movement on Instagram. There are no entry fees, no deadlines, and most importantly, no filters required.

To take part:

  • Share a photo or video that captures a genuine, unpolished moment.
  • Use the hashtag #DeInfluenceTheInternet.
  • Tag @AcerAfrica

The #DeInfluenceTheInternet movement is now live on Instagram and is open to everyone indefinitely. We encourage you to join the trend and show your true selves, even if you are not content creators.
