600 Eastern Cape school administrators to receive accredited accounting training

Regent Business School (RBS) has partnered with the Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDoE) to deliver an accredited training programme for 600 school administrators during the 2026 academic year.

Participants will be enrolled in RBS’s Higher Certificate in Accounting, a one-year distance learning qualification, designed to equip working professionals with practical financial and business skills.

The programme forms part of a broader commitment to skills development within the public education sector, giving administrative professionals the tools and knowledge to contribute more effectively to school operations and financial management.

Programme overview

The Higher Certificate in Accounting provides a foundation in financial management, accounting principles and business operations. Participants will gain practical skills in applying accounting principles within work-based contexts, working with financial software and technologies, and interpreting financial data to support decision-making. The qualification also creates pathways for career progression into entry-level accounting roles.

As a distance learning programme, it allows participants to manage their professional responsibilities alongside their studies.

Provincial roadshow across Eastern Cape

To support the rollout, RBS has deployed a dedicated team to conduct a roadshow across all 12 districts of the Eastern Cape, covering three areas: programme briefing, to ensure all bursary beneficiaries understand the structure, objectives and expectations; mindset readiness, to prepare participants for the demands of balancing work, study and personal commitments; and governance and compliance, to collect all required enrolment documentation in line with Regent’s admission requirements.

A commitment to skills development

This partnership reflects RBS’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and supporting public sector development through targeted skills programmes. By equipping school administrators with financial and business competencies, the initiative aims to strengthen institutional effectiveness within schools while creating opportunities for individual career growth.
