Mark Williams Foundation Golf Fundraiser a Resounding Success in Support of Youth Development

The Mark Williams Foundation Business Breakfast and Golf Fundraiser was held yesterday at the prestigious Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club, bringing together business leaders, sponsors, media representatives, and golf enthusiasts in support of youth development, education, and community upliftment.

Hosted by former Bafana Bafana striker Mark Williams, the event celebrated the power of sport as a tool for social change, while fostering partnerships between the corporate sector and community initiatives.

The day began with a business networking breakfast, where attendees discussed the role of mentorship, education, and sports in empowering young people and creating sustainable opportunities for communities. Guests then took to the golf course for a fun and competitive golf day, combining camaraderie with fundraising efforts for the foundation.

Addressing attendees, Williams reflected on his journey as a professional football forward and the importance of giving back.

“Sport gave me opportunities that changed my life,” said Williams. “Through this foundation, we want to help young people, especially those from under-resourced communities, to unlock their potential and create pathways for success. Today’s event is about turning support and passion into tangible impact.”

The foundation extended special thanks to its key partners who were instrumental in the success of the event: Tshepiso Poho from Toro Bravo, Robert Mafuna from A2Z Golf, and Alexis Tshangana from Media with Alexis, along with the CEO’s, sponsors, and media partners who helped bring the day to life.

Participants also had the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals, enjoy the beautiful course, and support the foundation’s initiatives in a meaningful way. The fundraiser raised critical funds that will go toward programmes focused on youth empowerment, education support, and community development, reinforcing the foundation’s mission of transforming potential into opportunity where it is needed most.

The event highlighted how sport and business can work together to drive social change. Golfers and attendees alike praised the seamless organisation of the day, the high level of engagement from all participants, and the opportunity to contribute to a cause that impacts the lives of young people across South Africa.

The Mark Williams Foundation expressed its gratitude to all attendees, sponsors, and supporters for making the event a success. The foundation looks forward to hosting future events that continue to leverage sport, community, and business partnerships to create lasting positive change.
