Johnnie Walker Afro-Exchange Champions African Creativity Through Music, Culture and Connection at the Africa Rising Music Conference

Over one of Johannesburg’s most culturally charged weekends, Johnnie Walker brought its culture-first ethos to life at the Africa Rising Music Conference (ARMC) through Johnnie Walker Afro-Exchange, the brand’s platform dedicated to celebrating creativity, collaboration and progressive African culture.

Hosted at Constitution Hill, ARMC brought together some of the continent’s most influential voices across music, culture and entertainment, creating a dynamic space for dialogue, connection and innovation within Africa’s evolving creative economy.

Through Johnnie Walker Afro-Exchange, Johnnie Walker curated immersive cultural experiences that fused music, storytelling and creative expression, delivering unforgettable moments that celebrated connection, creativity and the vibrant spirit of modern African luxury.

As Africa’s creative class continues to redefine the boundaries of music, fashion, art and lifestyle, Johnnie Walker continues to walk alongside them through Afro-Exchange one step, one story and one stride at a time connecting voices, ideas and cultures across the continent.

At the Africa Rising Music Conference, Johnnie Walker Afro-Exchange expanded these conversations through the Purpose-Driven Leadership & Collaboration panel discussion, featuring Ifeoma Agu, Group Head of Culture, Influencers & Advocacy at Diageo South, West & Central Africa; Andra Nel, Head of Corporate Affairs at KFC Africa; Nadin Hadorn, Team Manager Distribution & Deputy Head of Operations at MINT Digital Services and Nick DeCosemo, International Development Director at Mixmag. Moderated by Nick DeCosemo, the discussion explored the importance of intentional collaboration, purpose-led leadership and the role African creatives and cultural leaders play in shaping globally relevant movements and sustainable creative ecosystems.

The cultural experience continued at ARMC By Night presented by Johnnie Walker Afro-Exchange, where music lovers gathered for an electrifying showcase featuring DarkFace (SA), Haruna (UK), Timanti (UK), Mörda (SA), Nelo HD (SA), Rarri (SA), DJ Buhle (SA) and Henrik Schwarz (DE). The lineup reflected the spirit of Afro-Exchange by bringing together diverse sounds, cultures and creative voices from across the globe in celebration of African music and nightlife culture.

“At Johnnie Walker, we believe progress is shaped through culture, collaboration and the communities driving creativity forward. Through Afro-Exchange, we are intentional about creating platforms that go beyond celebration and instead invest in the journey of African creatives, from music and art to fashion and storytelling. These experiences are about creating meaningful cultural connections, opening access, and championing the voices and ideas that continue to shape modern African luxury,” says Ifeoma Agu, Group Head for Culture, Influencers & Advocacy at Diageo.

Through Afro-Exchange, ARMC became a living cultural dialogue where artists, musicians and creatives converged to exchange ideas, spark collaboration and shape the future of African creativity.

Through its presence at ARMC, Johnnie Walker reinforced its role not simply as a whisky brand, but as a progressive cultural curator investing in the people, conversations and creative movements shaping the future of African culture. Through Afro-Exchange, the brand continues to create meaningful spaces where creativity, collaboration and community can thrive.
