Martin Bester and Ross Learmonth Premiere Music Video for ‘Angel’

Following the heartfelt response to their collaboration ‘Angel’Martin Bester and Ross Learmonth have premiered the song’s official music video, a song inspired by Jacaranda FM’s long-running Good Morning Angels initiative and the extraordinary stories of hope, generosity and compassion that have touched South Africans for more than two decades.

The video, shot at the Jacaranda FM studios in Midrand, gives fans an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the home of Breakfast with Martin Bester and features Martin and Ross alongside several of their colleagues at the station.

The video is also brought to life through powerful footage captured during Jacaranda FM’s Feel Good Tour, which celebrated the station’s 40th birthday. As part of the nationwide tour, Breakfast with Martin Bester broadcast live from schools across South Africa, where thousands of learners became the very first people to hear Angel before its official release. Their heartfelt reactions, performances and interpretations of the song now form an emotional thread throughout the music video.

The upbeat pop track, co-written with Ross Learmonth and Ewald Jansen van Rensburg, who also produced the song, beautifully conveys the message of accepting help when you’re at your lowest and recognising that everyone needs an ‘angel’ sometimes.

“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time,” says Martin. “Good Morning Angels has become such a massive part of my life and my journey at Jacaranda FM. Over the years, we’ve witnessed incredible moments of humanity, kindness and hope, and I always felt those emotions deserved a song.”

Speaking about the music video, Martin says seeing the song come to life through the learners’ eyes made the project even more meaningful.

Angel is an incredibly special song to me. Filming the music video at Jacaranda FM made perfect sense because this station has done such incredible work with Good Morning Angels,” Martin continues. “What really makes the video special, however, is the footage from our Feel Good Tour. Seeing how the learners connected with the song and the beautiful interpretations they brought to it was incredibly moving. They added so much heart to the video, and I think people will really feel that when they watch it.”

Beyond the music itself, ‘Angel’ carries a meaningful purpose. Martin will be donating all of his songwriting royalties from the song to Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels fund, helping the initiative continue changing lives and supporting individuals and families in need across South Africa.

Over the last 20 years, Good Morning Angels has become one of South Africa’s most impactful radio-led initiatives, raising millions of rand for causes ranging from medical assistance and education to housing, mobility, and disaster relief.

‘Angel’ is now available on all major streaming platforms, with the official music video live on YouTube.
