 Foschini x RICH MNISI marks a historic convergence: 100 years of Foschini dressing South African women and 10 years of RICH MNISI reshaping contemporary African fashion. This limited-edition capsule celebrates the women who have defined both journeys, making luxury accessible and heritage tangible.

For the RICH MNISI brand, the past decade has been a meditation on memory, culture, and the everyday glamour of the women who shaped him. “Women have always been my starting point,” says Rich Mnisi. “This collection is a love letter to them, to the resilience woven into their wardrobes. And when I think of the legacy of dressing women for 100 years and 10 years for us, I just think of how inspiring the silent resilience and power that women hold and how generational it is. I also think of my mother.

“I think of mothers representing other women. I think it’s the closest reference I have to womanhood.”

The auction collection: Designing with Nostalgia

For Mnisi, the creative process began with feeling rather than form. “The first reference I pulled when designing the Foschini auction collection was definitely the feeling of nostalgia,” he explains. “I thought of just my grandmother walking in Sophiatown. I thought of pleats, blouses, silks – just a very chilled elevated look with a lot of print. That whole aesthetic and vibe really did influence a lot of the collection.”
